Paddington Bear HIstory
The first Paddington bear soft toy was created in the UK by Shirley Clarkson as a Christmas present for her children. The toy’s popularity led to the founding of Gabrielle Designs, which received an official licence to sell Paddington bears in 1972. This initiated a variety of Paddington-themed products. Gabrielle Designs and Eden Toys were the original licensed manufacturers, making collectible versions of Paddington and Aunt Lucy bears. Today, numerous manufacturers worldwide produce Paddington soft toys.
